Hello everyone, regarding translating videos through AI, we previously recommended the Trancy plugin, which provides a great experience! However, there are some drawbacks, such as only supporting online translation and limited platform support. So today, we would like to recommend another local video translation tool called v2sub.
Based on the Whisper model from OpenAI, v2sub performs local AI recognition and translation. The principle is simple: it transcribes the audio of the video into text using AI, and then translates it into subtitles in the corresponding language using a free online translation service. It would be even better if the latter part could be translated using ChatGPT, so we hope the author adds this feature soon.
Using v2sub is also simple. Since it translates using a local AI model, the file size may be larger, but the user interface is straightforward. Just drag and drop the local video, and then set the desired language for translation. We used the free version, which translates using CPU and is quite fast. Videos within 10 minutes are free.
There is also a professional version of v2sub, which has no time limit, supports GPU translation for faster speed, and supports more languages and audio/video formats. It is more suitable for subtitle group workers.
The generated subtitle files include the original language, the target language, and bilingual subtitles. If you want to target a global audience as a video creator, you can directly export the video with bilingual subtitles using video editing or compression software.
