Hello everyone, today let's talk about book translation.
With the popularity of chatgpt, there are now countless tools available for book translation. However, some of them have limited format support, while others require some knowledge of coding.
Today, I finally discovered a tool that allows even beginners to easily translate books. It is a plugin on Calibre.
Calibre#
If you enjoy reading books, especially using Kindle, you must be very familiar with Calibre. It is almost the number one tool in the field of book editing. Since many of the books we download are in the universal formats of epub and pdf, in order to prevent our Kindle from becoming a tool only for instant noodles, we need to use Calibre to convert the formats of the books. It can recognize 48 input formats and 20 output formats.
With its natural advantages, you only need one translation plugin to easily meet your book translation needs.
Importing the Plugin#
It is very simple to use. We download the plugin's compressed file to our local device without extracting it. Then, open the settings, find the plugins, and choose the last option to import from file. Then, select the installation package that was just downloaded.

Afterwards, we can see the translation icon at the top end of the software. Clicking on it allows us to choose the export format and the language to translate into.

However, before using the plugin, we need to set it up. By default, it uses Google Translate, but it also supports Deepl, Youdao, Baidu, and chatgpt. Google and Deepl use free quotas, but the results are average. The others require your own API, especially chatgpt, which not only requires an API but also network support. Those who know how to use it should understand.
It's not just for books, but also for long papers, company materials, or any translation needs. You can save them locally and then use this software for translation. It also supports batch processing, which can greatly improve your work efficiency.
