Hello everyone, today let's talk about how to quickly handle academic papers using AI tools.
Many beginners may think that they can simply use ChatGPT to generate content and let AI make some changes to meet their needs. To be honest, although that thing is quite advanced, it can also generate some nonsense without you even noticing. So it's still important to write academic papers rigorously. At this stage, AI tools should be used more as assistance to improve the efficiency of paper writing.
Consensus#
First, we need to use Consensus, which is a paper search engine. After posing a question, it will search through a massive amount of papers and provide simple summaries of relevant papers. Based on the summaries, you can find the ones you think are useful. Clicking on them will display the relevant paragraphs. You can also see if they are frequently cited, the number of citations, publication time, and where they were published, helping you determine the credibility of the paper. If it is confirmed to be useful, you can click on "Full Text" in the upper right corner to jump to the original paper page.
Elicit#
There is also a similar website called Elicit. After posing a question, it will sort the results based on the number of citations, with the most cited papers on the left. A summary generated from the first four papers will be displayed on the left, while the paper titles and brief summaries will be shown on the right. Clicking on them will provide more detailed summary content, citation information, and the option to jump to the original paper page.
Immersive Translation Plugin#
Both of them require you to ask questions in English. You can use the immersive translation plugin we introduced earlier, which utilizes the ChatGPT API for translation. It will generate translation results separately under each paragraph, making it convenient for you to check their accuracy.
chatpdf chatdoc#
After finding the necessary paper materials, if you have specific questions about a particular paper, you don't have to read the entire paper yourself. Depending on the file format, you can upload it to the ChatPDF or ChatDoc website and simply ask your questions. ChatGPT will reply to your questions based on the content of the paper. Even if you upload an English paper, it will reply to you in Chinese. It's very convenient.
ChatPaper#
Finally, when you have finished writing your own paper based on the materials, you may find this ChatPaper tool useful. It provides a comprehensive service.
Reading, polishing, peer review, and answering questions related to peer review are all supported. It is free and open source, and you can use it with your own API key. It supports multiple deployment methods, such as running as a script on Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. It can also be deployed through Flask service, Docker, or online. Anyway, no matter which method you choose, as a beginner, you will have to tinker with it a bit. If you don't want to tinker, you can use the official website, but it only has the summarization feature.
